Overview

Part 6 is the design of a final showcase and reflection of your semester-long project. Your presentation will tell the story of your semester-long project experience through live narration, visual display of materials created, experiences, results, and reflections on all that was learned (challenges and successes). Your presentation will be designed using a Canvas template you will customize for your mock company brand platform including fonts and color scheme, branding elements and style.

The final step in your semester-long project is to develop a poster and presentation script that summarizes what your team has accomplished in the course. A Canva template is provided for each team for the 3’x 2’poster and an outline is provided for teams to create talking points.

Components for final posters and presentations:

  1. One 3’x 2’ poster per team, designed in Canva, that will be printed at The Spark (instructor will coordinate production)
  2. Talking points for each team using the outline provided. 3×5 cards will be provided so teams can write down and split up talking points across all members.
  3. Live poster presentations will take place on Wednesday, Dec 4 at The Spark in the atrium during your normal class time. Participation in the final poster presentations is mandatory. Unless they have an approved university absence, all team members must be present to receive credit for the final poster. No-shows are at risk of receiving a “0” zero for lack of active participation. Poster presentations will take place at 9:10-10a, 10:10-11a, and 1:10-2p.
  4. During the poster presentations at least two team members should remain with the poster at all times in order to deliver talking points to visitors. Otherwise students are encouraged to visit other teams’ poster presentations to view their campaign highlights and learn about their 310 experiences.

Tasks

(1) Poster Design and Prep for Production:

COMPLETE BY FRI, NOV 22 AT 11:59P

  1. Log in to your team’s Canva account
  2. Each team has been designated its own template in Canva for the final poster. An email was sent to each student to “edit” your team’s poster.
  3. Follow template guidelines to populate the poster with your mock company’s info and campaign materials and results. You can switch up the layout as needed. Be sure to incorporate your company’s brand with use of color and fonts. View the Sang To-Go sample as a model.
  4. Upload your own images, logos, and other artwork as needed. You will need to upload screenshots or images used in your status report slides as jpegs or png files. Use screenshot tips if necessary.
  5. Check your work thoroughly before turning it in. Make sure there are no spelling errors and your graphics are readable and clear.
  6. When ready to submit > select “Share” at the top
  7. All sections — type in Rebecca.cooney@wsu.edu and make sure “Can Edit” is showing
  8. Rebecca and/or Chelsea Newman will work with Chris Lavoie at The Spark to print all posters over the holiday break. They will be ready for you when you arrive at The Spark on Wed, Dec 4.

(2) Talking Points

For talking points teams should create a script using the outline below. Once you have a general idea of what you will talk about, use the 3×5 cards to write out who will take the lead on which sections of the talking points. These assignments can shift on the day of the presentation but writing them on the cards will help keep notes clear and organized for whoever is delivering the information.

A. Introduction – introduction of team members

B. Company Summary – who you are, what you do, where you’re based, your audience, what problem you are solving, what makes you unique, and your products and services

C. Online Presence – Highlight your online channels articulating the main purpose, function, and vision behind your website, blog, and social channels.

D. Digital Strategy – Summarize your overall digital strategy for web, social, paid ads, and email marketing – what was your overall vision, purpose, goals, and desired outcomes?

E. Campaigns

  • Summarize the main vision and purpose for each of your campaigns including goals, theme, key messages, and calls to action.
  • Summarize and showcase campaign metrics findings and outcomes (e.g. Google Analytics, social media insights or analytics, HTML email metrics).
  • Highlight changes you made between campaign #1 and #2 and what you learned most in the process of running campaigns and monitoring metrics
  • Articulate what you enjoyed most about the class or campaign and your greatest challenges. Share what you learned from creating digital properties and executing a campaign. Share what you would do differently given the opportunity.

Turn it in

  1. Have one person from your team log in to Blackboard and access Assignment Dropboxes > Lesson 7
  2. In the dropbox for Semester-Long Project Part 6 share your talking points doc and Canva shared link to your poster

Grading Criteria

With your final poster presentation, students will be evaluated using the following criterion:

  • Mechanics: Presentation is easy to read and all elements are very clearly written, labelled. Presentation has no misspellings or grammatical errors.
  • Content: Meets all the criteria of the assignment. All content is in the students’ own words and is accurate. Demonstrates full knowledge by answering all reviewer questions with explanations and elaboration. Provides clear purpose and subject; pertinent examples, facts, and/or statistics; supports conclusions/ideas with evidence.
  • Creativity: Students have used media in creative and innovative ways that exploit the particular strengths of the presentation format. The final product is unique, powerful, effective, and compels audience attention.
  • Delivery: Speaks with fluctuation in volume and inflection to maintain audience interest and emphasize key points.
  • Enthusiasm and Audience Awareness: Demonstrates strong enthusiasm about topic throughout presentation. Significantly increases audience understanding and knowledge of topic; convinces an audience to recognize the validity and importance of the subject
